is a nonprofit based in the Greater Washington, D.C. area, that aims to conserve and promote Syrian heritage and culture; build cultural and social bridges with local communities and the American public.

Farouk Belal

Farouk is a Kurdish Syrian American community organizer based in the Washington DC Metropolitan Area. Farouk is a co-founder of the Syrian Cultural House. He has been involved in the Syrian Revolution since day one and has played an active role within the Syrian American community in the DMV (DC, Maryland, Virginia) area.

Sam Shaguj

Sam is a Syrian Circassian data scientist turned community organizer and social entrepruenuer with an MBA in Finance. He is the co-founder of the Syrian Cultural House, the Not A Bystander campaign, the Aya Montessori School, and the Syria Calendar. Sam is passionate about using technology and art to advocate for human rights.

Mai El-Sadany

Mai is an Egyptian-American human rights advocate and J.D. graduate. She is a Legal Associate at the International Center for Not-for-Profit Law and a Non-Resident Fellow for Legal and Judicial Analysis at the Tahrir Institute for Middle East Policy. Mai is also the co-founder of the Not A Bystander campaign and the Syria Calendar.

Ola Malas

Ola is a satirical radio host, TV correspondent, and a renowned Syrian media personality. She started her career working with legendary caricaturist’s, Ali Ferzat. She then moved to co-found and run Shabablek magazine and produced and hosted the popular satirical show 'Crazy.'Ola is also an activist in women’s and children’s rights and in civil liberties and now works as a correspondent for Orient TV in Washington DC.
